Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients:
  • 4 large chicken breasts 2-3 pounds
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • ½ cup 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 8-10 pepperoncini peppers + ¼ cup juice
Optional Add-ins:
  • ½ medium onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
For Serving (Optional):
  • Cooked rice mashed potatoes, or egg noodles
  • Fresh parsley
  • Extra pepperoncini peppers

Equipment

  • 6-quart slow cooker (or larger)
  • Measuring spoons
  • Two forks (for shredding)
  • Small cutting board
  • Sharp knife (for optional vegetables)
  • Cooking spray (optional)
  • Can opener (for pepperoncini jar)

Method
 

Prepare the Crockpot
  1. Lightly spray your crockpot with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Place the sliced onions and minced garlic at the bottom if using.
Season and Layer
  1. Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot.
  2. Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix evenly over the chicken.
  3. Sprinkle the au jus gravy mix on top.
  4. Place the stick of butter on top of the seasonings.
  5. Arrange the pepperoncini peppers around the chicken.
  6. Pour the pepperoncini juice over everything.
Cook
  1. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours.
  2. The chicken is done when it easily shreds with two forks.
  3. Shred the chicken in the crockpot and let it soak up the juices for an additional 15-20 minutes.
