Prepare the Meat Patties
- Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, diced onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and mustard powder in a large bowl.
- Mix gently until just combined - avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.
- Shape mixture into 6-8 oval patties, about 1-inch thick.
- Create a slight dimple in the center of each patty to prevent shrinking.
Cook the Patties
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned.
- Transfer to a plate and cover with foil.
Make the Gravy
- In the same skillet, add butter and sauté mushrooms and onions until golden brown.
- Sprinkle flour over vegetables and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder.
- Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Return patties to the skillet and cook for additional 5-7 minutes until heated through.
