Ingredients
  

For the Dough:
  • 1 box 15.25 oz yellow cake mix
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast 1 packet
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water 110-115°F
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
For the Filling:
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg optional
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Dental floss or sharp knife
  • Stand mixer or hand mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method
 

Prepare the Dough:
  1. Combine cake mix and yeast in a large bowl
  2. Add warm water and melted butter, mix well
  3. Gradually add flour until soft dough forms
  4. Knead 5-7 minutes until smooth
  5. Let rise 30 minutes in warm place
Make the Filling:
  1. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon
  2. Have softened butter ready
Shape and Fill:
  1. Roll dough to 15x20 inch rectangle
  2. Spread with softened butter
  3. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture
  4. Roll tightly from long edge
  5. Cut into 12 pieces
Second Rise and Bake:
  1. Place in greased 9x13 pan
  2. Let rise 30 minutes
  3. Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes
Frost and Serve:
  1. Beat cream cheese and butter
  2. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, milk
  3. Spread on warm rolls
