Ingredients
  

For the Beef & Vegetables
  • lbs beef sirloin thinly sliced
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 green onions sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
For the Sauce
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup mirin
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water for cornstarch slurry

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Sharp knife for slicing beef
  • Small saucepan for teriyaki sauce
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cutting board

Method
 

Prepare Sauce:
  1. Mix soy sauce, mirin, and brown sugar in a bowl
  2. Add minced garlic and grated ginger
  3. In separate bowl, mix cornstarch with water to make slurry
Cook Beef:
  1. Heat oil in large pan over high heat
  2. Cook beef in batches until browned (2-3 minutes)
  3. Remove beef and set aside
Cook Broccoli:
  1. In same pan, add broccoli
  2. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until bright green
Combine:
  1. Return beef to pan
  2. Add sauce mixture
  3. Add cornstarch slurry
  4. Cook until sauce thickens (2-3 minutes)
  5. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds
